High School girl undressed by police in search of drugs

Photos of a school girl who was strip searched by the police are doing rounds on social media. The girl who is from Kanyama secondary school in Mathira, Nyeri county was among 45 students who were arrested in a Nairobi bound bus. She had hidden 4 rolls of bhang, tobacco and a matchbox in her private parts

Like you can see from the blurred  picture above, hands of three people can be seen holding the girl’s inner wear as a photographer takes pictures of the ‘evidence’. The photos of the girl which have widely been shared on Whatsapp and Twitter have drawn angry reactions from many Kenyans including Nairobi senator Mike Sonko.

Others have supported the police, arguing that a school girl should not smoke or be in possession of bhang and worse disciplinary action should be taken against her. In fact, a female teacher said that what was done to that girl will serve as a good lesson to her and other bhang smoking students.

The 18 year old form 4 girl is currently remanded at Sagana police station until Tuesday, when reports from a probation officer and the school will be submitted.

The other students who were arrested together with the girl are from Mukurweini boys, Kibirigwi Girls high school, Kaheti High school, Kanyama Secondary School and Kanjuri Boys high school. 44 of them were released to the custody of their principals on condition that disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Police confirmed that most of the 45 students, both male and female, were drunk and high on bhang. Some of them were also fornicating inside the bus which they had hired to take them to Nairobi after closing school. The “Team Cash” bus, Reg number KCC 586M belongs to the Hanova company and you can find it on the Thika superhighway- Kasarani- Mwiki road (once its released by the police)
