Latest on Gideon Mwiti’s rape case: Imenti Central MP, Gideon Mwiti was arrested on Wednesday evening and locked up at Kileleshwa police station awaiting his arraignment to court today (Thursday)
Mwiti’s arrest comes after final results on DNA tests that were to confirm rape allegations against him turned out positive, police officers said. The police had tricked him to report to Parklands police station to be briefed on his case and discuss ‘the way forward’ but was arrested and detained on arrival
Last week, DPP Keriako Tobiko ordered fresh grilling of the Imenti Central MP after it was discovered that there were major inconsistencies and contradictions in his earlier statements.
Officials from the DPP’s office visited the scene of crime (his private office) on Friday. They also recorded more statements from the 27 year journalist who was raped by Mwiti and some witnesses- including the taxi driver who drove the woman home after the rape incident

They also visited the Pizza Garden hotel and recorded a statement from one of the security officials in the establishment. Gideon Mwiti and his victim had visited the hotel hours before they headed to his office in Westlands where he committed the heinous act
In case you are wondering what this is all about, On the night of March 21st, Gideon Mwiti forced a woman to take a HIV test then assaulted and raped her several times in his Westlands private office. He also forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Human Rights activists and Kenyans at large are excited about Gideon Mwiti’s arrest as they they wait to see whether justice will finally be served.
Update on Gideon Mwiti’s rape case
Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has finally been charged before a Nairobi court with rape, intimidation and assault. Through his lawyer, Mwiti had earlier requested that he be freed on cash bail, saying that he suffers from diabetes and is not strong enough to be in police custody (Funny.. because he was very strong when raping and assaulting that woman)
He has been released on a Sh 100,000 cash bail after after denying the rape charges.The case will be mentioned on Wednesday
