Garissa University Colege under siege from 6 Al Shabaab Militia

There are reports that Garissa University college- a constituent college of Moi University is under siege from suspected Al Shabaab militia. Earlier today, heavy gunfire and explosions could be heard inside the University.

Garissa University  Siege-  6 heavily armed suicide-vested Al Shabaab Fighters stormed the university in the early hours of Thursday morning (around 4 am). Two watchmen are reported to have been killed and many students are locked up in hostels. A number of students and members of staff have managed to escape but the attackers are reportedly holding a number of students hostage

A message from a student who is hiding in his hostel room inside Garissa University:

: Garissa university under Alshabab attack please pray for me and other comrades. they have been exchanging fires with the police from 4am. am in my room ( hostel ) hoping ntaprnya kutoka . please mnisaidie na credo to communicate through text na wenye wako nje . 

Local administration has confirmed the Garissa University Siege, adding that more police officers and ambulances are on standby outside the gate
