This is what you get for sending abusive text messages to your grand mother

A 27 year old Florence Nduku Mutua found herself on the wrong side of the law for sending vulgar messages to her grandmother. Nduku was in trouble with the law for a crime many commit and often get away with.

Nduku is accused of sending an avalanche of vulgar and abusive messages on different dates to her grandmother by the name Grace Mwende after the two had some minor differences. The messages which were read out to resident magistrate Miriam Mugure contained very abusive and unprintable words

The woman was charged on several counts of misusing a licensed telecommunication system contrary to section 29 of the Kenyan communication and information act

The law states that a person who by means of a licensed telecommunication system sends a message or other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding Sh 50,000 or to imprisonment to a term not exceeding 3 months, or both

Nduku pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000
