The donkeys which were uprooted from their natural habitat were apparently ferried to CBD in the dead of the night and painted with messages condemning the rot in parliament

This comes just a few days after the ethics and anti-corruption report implicated top government officials including five cabinet secretaries who have since stepped aside to pave way for investigations and slightly over two weeks since a member of parliament was accused of raping a woman in is private office

The donkeys were later impounded and driven out of the CBD by Nairobi County officials.

Incidents where animals have been used to relay messages, mostly to members of parliament are not new in the capital city. On 11th December 2014, 22 donkeys were used to send the ‘tumechoka’ message, a message by activists opposed to the national security laws.

Earlier in 2014, activists in the occupy parliament protest released live pigs outside parliament buildings decrying perceived greed by members of parliament who were out to increase their un-taxed salaries
