Shock as police reveal that Muchai’s killers may never be found
In what is likely to further throw into confusion the ongoing probe on Muchai’s assassination, reliable police sources have said that the car used by the assailants was a Toyota Spacio- not a Mercedes benz with Ugandan registration as it was earlier claimed. The Toyota spacio was carjacked in Kamandura area in Limuru, and its two female occupants thrown into the boot as the killers executed their mission.
The two women, one of whom works for an Insurance company were on Friday night carjacked in Kamandura and bundled into their Toyota Spacio, registration number KBE 464N. What they din’t know was that their vehicle was to be used in the execution of Kabete MP, the late George Muchai.
According to sources privy to the investigations, all through the attack on Muchai, his driver and two body guards along Nairobi’s Kenyatta Avenue, the two women were in the boot of the said vehicle. They were later abandoned together with the vehicle at Ndeiya area of Kiambu county
They then drove themselves to Kikuyu police station where they recorded a statement outlining what they witnessed. According to a highly placed police source, its at the Kikuyu police station that the vehicle was released even before conducting any forensic analysis for fingerprints to establish the identity of Muchai’s assassins.
It has also been established that the vehicle in question has since Sunday been driven by four different people, further reducing the chances of gathering any credible forensics from the only lead to Muchai’s killers.
Earlier, hopes of capturing the identities of the assassins from CCTV footage seem to have faded after detectives established that the images captured can not be relied upon to piece up any credible evidence.
