This man has made millions after siphoning diesel from the MAIN Mombasa-Nairobi oil pipeline

A plot of Land in Kokotoni, Kilifi County, was a beehive of activities on Sunday morning as police officers and Kenya Pipeline Company staff swarmed the neighborhood. The plot that had never drawn any attention from members of public for a long time was host to a multi-million diesel siphoning syndicate.

The owner of the plot claimed he had leased it out. His tenant then found a way to tap the main oil pipeline which supplies diesel from Mombasa to Nairobi, redirecting the diesel to the fenced plot, then in to huge tankers. The multi-million illicit business came to light when a neighbor noticed that there was a fuel leak along the main pipeline. He then reported the matter to the local police who alerted KPL officials

On Sunday morning when the syndicate was uncovered, the two tankers were carrying an estimated 100,0000 liters of diesel worth more than Sh 80 Million. Its suspected that the siphoning had been going on for more than 6 months, meaning that the ‘businessman’ had made hundreds of Millions of shilings from the free diesel. He reportedly made a run for it during the police raid.

Police have however arrested the owner of the plot and KPL staff have taken samples to establish the quality of the diesel found in the two tankers

Kenya Pipeline company has reportedly lost millions of shillings through such illegal connections which also pose danger to the fraudsters and their neighbors.
