Cyrus Jirongo in dawn gun drama along Arboretum Road
Police are investigating an incident where former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo was involved in a dawn gun drama along the Arboretum Road in Nairobi.

Jirongo is said to have shot at a Nairobi business man who allegedly tried to assist him out of his vehicle at dawn on Friday. The good Samaritan who was identified as James Njenga is said to have called for assistance from watchmen at nearby apartments after he found the former MP slumped in the driver’s seat of his Range Rover vehicle with its engine still running. He is said to have been very drunk.
Fearing that the vehicle was on fire, Njenga and the watchmen removed Jirongo from the vehicle. They then searched his pockets, retrieved his mobile phone and alerted his wife. Upon waking up to the commotion, Jirongo is said to have reached at his pistol and fired three times at the unsuspecting men.
Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam who confirmed the incident said Njenga’s vehicle was damaged after it was shot at three times. Jirongo who is still at large could not be reached for comment but was seen speeding off from the Kileleshwa police station in the company of several police men.
If found to have misused his fire arm, Jirongo faces the risk of loosing the license to hold a gun.
