Wilfred Weke, dies under mysterious circumstances at KNH
The family of a 24 year old Zetech college student identified as Wilfred Weke spent a second day at the Kenyatta National Hospital looking for answers to what led to the death of their son. He had been admitted at the hospital for a dialysis procedure on Sunday evening.

On Monday morning, Wilfred Weke was found dead outside the hospital’s compound, on Mara Road, near capital hill police post, a kilometer away from the hospital with his body wrapped in KNH bed sheets. He had bruises on his back which indicated that he was possibly dragged on the ground
The KNH administration on Tuesday admitted that he was in their care after being diagnosed with renal failure and was to undergo two dialysis sessions.
Lily Koros Tare, the Chief Executive Officer at KNH said that Wilfred Weke might have escaped from the hospital when the renal unit was opened at 4 am on Monday. She argued that Wilfred possibly walked out as nurses were attending to a new set of patients and preparing them for dialysis
On Tuesday, the hospital was at pains to explain why Wilfred’s body was taken to the city mortuary by a KNH ambulance and not to the hospital’s morgue. The administration defended the hospital saying that at that point, they had not identified the body as that of the missing patient
The family of Wilfred Weke is also questioning how he moved from KNH renal unit to Mara road without being noticed by security guards. His mother claimed that he had difficulty walking and could not walk out of the hospital on his own without help
The KNH administration has said that Weke’s death is now a police case and did not comment on the cause of death. A postmortem is scheduled for Wednesday morning
