Robert Alai arrested for sharing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s contacts on Facebook

This comes just two days after ‘social media’ claimed that Alai was being held at Pangani police station- which was a terrible and false rumor. Today though, Alai has been arrested FOR REAL.

CID director Ndegwa Muhoro is said to have ordered the arrest of blogger Robert Alai early Tuesday for allegedly sharing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s contacts publicly. But on his twitter account, the controversial blogger claimed that he was being arrested for referring President Kenyatta’s rcent meeting in Kibera as Kalongolongo, a Luo word meaning child’s play

On Monday, Alai spent over six hours at the CID headquaters but was later released after investigators found no offence in the blogger’s actions. He was then picked up Tuesday morning while on his way to the Embakasi DCIO’s office to surrender. He was taken to Kiambu court, where the court declined to take up the case for lack of a complainant and witnesses.

Some ODM leaders have said that they will do whatever it takes to have Alai released, even if it means calling for mass action. Read Eliud Owalo’s statement regarding Alai’s arrest and detention at Muthaiga police station.. Owalo is Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Campaign Secretariat manager

I have just received reports that Robert Alai is being held at Muthaiga Police Station for stating that “what the Government is doing in Kibra is Kalongolongo”.

If I may asck, who is the complainant in this case? Where is the Freedom of expression as enshrined in our constitution?

Is this the direction Uhuru Kenyatta wants to take Kenya? Either Alai is released unconditionally and forthwith, lest we resort to alternative course of action, and mark you-it will not only be decisive and incisive;but also impactful.

Update: Robert Alai was on Wednesday morning charged in Kiambu court for undermining a public officer- President Uhuru Kenyatta; He denied the charge and was freed on a Sh200,000 cash bail
