BREAKING: Ole Lenku fired, Kimaiyo forced to retire

Interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Ole Lenku has finally been fired. His position has been taken by Maj Gen Joseph Nkaiseri. Inspector general of police David Kimaiyo has also retired, a moved seen by many as succumbing to pressure due to increased security breaches in the country

The sacking of Ole Lenku and retiring of David Kimaiyo were announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta during a press conference issued after Tuesday morning attacks in Mandera.

We can only wait and see if Ole Lenku will go back to his catering career after loosing the high profile government job.

Earlier today, I held a meeting with the Inspector General of police, Mr. David Kimaiyo, a man who has served this nation with dedication and commitment

Mr David Kimaiyo offered to retire. And I have accepted the retirement resuest. I therefore take this opportunity to thank Mr David Kimaiyo for his many years of service to our nation

Further to this, I have nominated Hon. Maj General (rtd) Joseph Nkaissery as the new Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National government. I hope the National Assembly will expedite the process of his vetting and approval
