AP Officer shoots dead 5 colleagues, then shoots himself in the head

An AP officer on Tuesday night went amok and shot dead five of his colleagues inside the Shitsala AP Patrol base in Butere, Kakamega County before shooting himself in the head

Its reported that the AP officer shot dead 4 of his colleagues and a wife to one of the dead colleagues before killing himself, bringing the total number of those dead to six.

Butere deputy county commissioner Joshua Chepchieng’ confirmed the incident and said that he was shocked by what had transpired. He said that the AP officer did not show any signs of stress or other mental problems prior to the Tuesday night incident

A wife to one of the AP officers who was shot dead said the officer was angered by the unplanned visit of his wife who found him in the house with his Mpango wa Kando (Mistress) at around 7 pm Tuesday evening.

The killer AP’s wife and mistress both escaped unhurt and their whereabouts remain unknown. The Shitsala AP camp now remains with only two of its previous seven AP officers.

The bodies of the slain AP officers were taken to St. Mary’s mission hospital mortuary in Mumias.
