New routes created inside CBD to ease traffic flow.
The Nairobi county government has laid out a plan to ease traffic gridlocks that are witnessed in the city every now and then. The new plan seeks to overhaul traffic movement in most parts of of the city

Starting Monday morning, all motorists entering CBD from Kipande and Murang’a road using the Globe Cinema round about will only be allowed to do so via Moi Avenue, Muidi Mbingu or Koinange Street.
For motorists using Moi Avenue from the Central Business District and wants to join the Globe Cinema round about, they will have to drive up to the end of Moi Avenue junction with a slip road that connects to Muranga Road, then to Globe Cinema. The right turn from Moi Avenue to Murang’a road has been closed.
To ease the traffic at the Moi Avenue/ Moktadada street junction, the right turn entering the street from Moi Avenue has been closed. Motorists will instead use Muidi Mbingu street to access Moktadada.
To reduce congestion caused by the two way traffic along Monrovia street- connecting Moi Avenue and Muidi Mbingu, traffic movement has now been changed to one way.
Many motorists are not aware of these changes because road signs to warn or direct drivers are yet to be put in place. According the county executive in charge of transport, Mohammed Abdullahi, road signs will be erected once the repairs are completed. Offenders who don’t follow the new routes will be fined or jailed. First time offenders will be fined Sh 2,000 or go to jail for six months. Repeat offenders will be fined Sh 3,000 or serve a jail time of 9 months
The National Youth Service personel, NYS will be deployed to man the roads and direct traffic
