IPOA is now blaming what it calls poor command structure in the police service. The Authority’s chairman Njeru Macharia said on Monday that all top police chiefs should resign over the killings. He also faulted the country’s intelligence gathering and risk assessment.

Njeru said that Kenya police leadership lives in denial and continues to play victim by looking for excuses rather than owning up to the mess that they have created. He added that IPOA has noted the police command is unable to correctly analyze the problem at hand and prescribe solutions for the same. He also insisted that Kenya’s top police command should have taken personal responsibility by now including apologizing to the public or resigning
