Eldoret town gets its first ‘Milk ATM’
For many years, getting milk in Eldoret town has been done the traditional way- getting it straight from the cow for the small scale farmers who have one or two cows or buying a packet of the commodity from a shop or supermarket. But now, things have changed and residents of Eldoret have an opportunity to use a new ‘Milk ATM’ that has been installed by a local investor.

This new automatic milk dispensing machine in Eldoret town has been nicknamed “The milk ATM” by the locals because its a self service facility that uses all coins of Sh 5- Sh 40 denominations. This means that you can get milk even for as low as 5 shillings. All you have to do is insert a coin in to the slot and out comes fresh boiled milk which is ready for consumption.
The automatic milk dispenser (Milk ATM) has become increasingly popular in the town, thanks to the cheaper price of milk dispensed, as half a liter goes for Sh 20 only. The machine also maintains high levels of hygiene since there are no spillages
The manager of the facility Robert Boit has said that they came up with the Milk ATM idea because many farmers were incurring losses since major milk companies in the region could not absorb all their milk.
The machine serves about a thousand customers every day. In Nairobi, it has been previously been installed in Tuskys and Uchumi supermarkets
