Betty Bayo’s response to his husbands expose on KTN’s Jicho Pevu

What is your reaction to KTN’s Jicho Pevu and the inside story investigative report on your husband’s Pastor Kanyari ‘fake miracles’?

Betty Bayo: I really got shocked. When my friends told me about it, I fainted. It was all news to me but i had hints of what he was doing in the church. He hides a lot of things to me because he knows i will be against them.

Have you ever heard that your husband was purporting to perform miracles?

Betty Bayo: I never knew it was that deep and serious. I don’t know why he knowingly does such things. But he’s the one who knows the whole truth, though he has never told me

Have you discussed the allegations with pastor Kanyari?

Betty Bayo, Pastor Kanyari’s Wife

We have not communicated since the story was run on KTN. I have not talked with him and I dont know whats happening right now. Many people had told me not to go to media houses or speak to anyone about the allegations, but when i read the bible, there is a story of Meshack, Shadrack and Abednego- When they were told to declare their faith or get burned, they stood by their faith regardless of the repercussions. That’s why i decided to the media because i would never want anyone to mistake me for someone who can mock God. I am very serious with my salvation and i don’t take it for granted

I would not mock someone who wakes me up in the morning and gives me good health. I was not involved because if you watch Jicho pevu, you won’t see me anywhere. I was never around that church because I am so busy with my music career and he is busy with his church. So we only meet in the house as husband and wife

Is it true that you married Pastor Kanyari for money?

Betty Bayo: People say that i married pastor Kanyari because of his money but when we started dating, he was not as rich as he is now. He was just doing well, and i was also doing well. So we just met as two people who were doing well. Also, its not a bad thing to have someone who can support you. If you google him from 2011, he was not known by many people, he actually rose to fame after we got married

People say that you are a beneficiary of dirty money. Whats your take on that?

Betty Bayo: Yes, people might think that i am the biggest beneficiary. If that story is true, then that money is not blessed. I make my own money through sikiza tunes, and that money supports me. So  I am indipendent and i take care of myself. I am not so money minded as people think. In the bible, Job said: Whatever i feared most has finally come to me. I feared that people will at some point think that i treasure money more than God. That has happened to me now but it won’t bring me down. I would not want to be a beneficiary of something that is not clean

Whats your next course of action?

Betty Bayo: Right now, I will not stand and make an instant decision from the influence or the hype surrounding the whole saga. I will ask God for guidance and I am hoping that whatever decision I make will be inspired by God
