Woman who died at JKIA dint have ebola or marburg virus
The woman who died at the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday night has tested negative for ebola and the marburg virus. She was travelling from Juba to Nairobi
Reports of her death caused panic at the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport and made many passengers and airport workers to desert a section of the airport. The woman said to be a Kenyan from Gatundu in Kiambu country was onboard flight F540 and is reported to have been bleeding as she was rushed to the emergency wing of the Port Health Clinic located at JKIA.
Medical specialists at the airport had a long and busy night as they conducted tests to determine whether the woman had the deadly ebola virus.
On Sunday afternoon, health CS, James Macharia released a status report indicating that the woman tested negative for both the ebola, marburg or other hemorrhagic fevers. The 33 year old woman had traveled from Kenya to Uganda by road, then to Juba in Southern Sudan where she fell ill. Thats where she was referred back to Kenya for specialized treatment.
According to the government, several measures have been taken to make sure that Ebola does not find its way to Kenya and passengers, especially those flying in from West African countries, are being subjected to thorough screening upon arrival.
