Wetangula says that Kenya Airways MUST apologize for humiliating him.. Or else he will sue the airline

Moses Wetangula now wants Kenya Airways to apologize for humiliating him as he was boarding a flight to Mombasa for the senate leadership retreat.

Moses Wetangula was asked to produce his national ID card but insisted he forgot to pick it from his driver who had since proceeded to Mombasa by road. He boarded the flight alongside other members of the Senate and passengers. But the flight, KQ 622 would not be leaving any time soon as long as the airline staff team was concerned- not until Wetangula complied to the normal procedure for travel

For three hours, the flight that should have taken off at 8.40 pm, had all its passengers ejected over this standoff as members of Senate stood in solidarity with Wetangula as he was being ejected from the plane. The Bungoma senator insists he was humuliated and mistreated by the KQ staff.

“As a former foreign minister of this country, I more than anyone else helped Kenya Airways to grow to more than 10 news destinations. I fly Kenya Airways where even better airlines with better services go. I hold a platinum card which i showed them as an identity.  I showed them 5 credit cards from different banks. I showed them my parliamentary health cover card, they wouldn’t take it. So i don’t know whether they are profiling leadership for embarrassment because they have done the same so some other members of parliament” Said an angry Wetangula during a tea break at the Senate Leadership Retreat

Kenya airways has however said that it will stand by its regulations. In a statement, the airline said that as per its security program approved by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, all passengers must show a form of photo identification prior to boarding an aircraft, either during check in or at boarding

Wetangula however reads malice in the entire drama and says that he will write to the airline and protest in the strongest terms possible and demand for an explanation and an apology. He further said that if the airline fails to apologize, he will take appripriate action to protect hid rights as a citizen, leader and traveller
