Tetanus Vaccine causes INTERTILITY- Insists Catholic Bishops
The Conference of Catholic Bishops wants all Kenyans to abstain from taking part in the ongoing Tetanus vaccination campaign. The bishops have faulted the vaccine saying it has been used elsewhere as a permanent birth control tool
The chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, Rev Pual Kariuki said that they have concrete prove that the Tetanus vaccination that was administered on girls and women aged between 14 and 49 years in March 2014 with the support from WHO and UNICEF contained birth control chemicals. He said that the vaccine contained beta hcg subunit
The bishops further claimed that a similar vaccine was used in the Philippines, Nicaragua and Mexico to prevent women from getting future pregnancies. They have added that the vaccine as it is renders a woman incapable of sustaining a pregnancy if administered to a non-pregnant woman. They also added that the vaccine contains elements that pose serious and irreversible health complications to women who are in the reproductive age.
The bishops accused the ministry of health of dismissing what they claimed is their informed advice. They further questioned why the Tetanus vaccine is a priority saying that there is no crisis necessitating the intensive campaign. The bishops requested the ministry of health to conduct independent tests adding that Kenyans need to know the truth about the vaccine
Health CS James Macharia has however said that the choice to participate in the vaccination campaign remains with an individual and no woman is being forced to take the jab
