If not treated, people suffering from the condition are prone to a serious infection of the intestines called enterocolitis. This is caused by stool backing up behind the immobile section of the large intestines.
The stagnant mass of stool provides a fertile environment for bacteria to grow This can be a life-threatening complication and It’s treated in the hospital with colon cleansing and administration of antibiotics.
All will be well…!
