Rwanda now screening Americans and Spaniards for Ebola.

Rwanda is not taking any chances with the deadly Ebola virus. The country’s health ministry has ordered that people from countries where Ebola has been reported should be thoroughly screened and tested before entering Rwanda. This includes USA and Spain.

Here is an extract from a form that visitors from USA, Spain and other Ebola infected countries are supposed to sign when entering Rwanda through the airport or other border points:

Strengthening prevention measures against Ebola

To protect the health of all residents and visitors to Rwanda, all incoming passengers from the Republic of Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Sierra Leone, USA and Spain or anyone who has traveled to those countries within the last 22 days, you are requested to call our toll free line 144 on a daily basis and give a brief update of your health status to our call center agents. This must be done during the duration of your stay and at least 21 days for those planning to stay longer. Please let us know if you develop any of these signs:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Joint pains
  • Sore throat
