Registrar of political parties threatens to deregister parties that won’t tame violent members
The registrar of political parties Lucy Ndung’u has warned that political parties that don’t tame their violent members and supporters will be de-registered.

On several occasions, the police have been forced to intervene and quell violence caused by supporters of various political parties. But non of the parties has taken any disciplinary action towards those found culpable of inciting violence. The registrar of political parties has been forced to intervene.
“We are supposed to issue a warning to the party officials and if the warning is not heeded within 90 days, we are supposed to issue a de-registration order to a political party which contravenes not just the act or the party constitution, but the constitution of Kenya 2010.” Said Lucy Ndung’u
The registrar who was meeting representatives of various political parties to seek consensus on the way forward said that her office was working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure law and order is observed at all political meetings
ODM nominated senator, Dr Agnes Zani who was present at the meeting said that her party will discipline the “men in black” who disrupted party elections at Kasarani in February this year.
Other political parties have also instructed their members to tow the line or risk being struck off the list of party members.
