Prof. Ali Mazrui finally buried in Mombasa

Renowned Scholar Prof. Ali Mazrui has finally been laid to rest. He was buried at the Mazrui’s 900 year old grave yard in Mombasa opposite Fort Jesus

Prof. Mazrui’s body arrived at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa shortly after 3 am. on Sunday morning. The body was later taken to the Mbaruk Mosque for special prayers, boefore being taken to the family’s grave yard in Mombasa’s old town

Among those who attended the burial were Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and the leader of majority in the national Assembly, Aden Duale.

Pr0f. Mazrui passed away in New York where he was working as a Professor at the Binghamton University. The Prof who died at age 81 had been unwell and was undergoing treatment. He wrote 30 books and lectured in different universities worldwide and he also once served as the Chancellor of Jommo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)
