Hass wins Sh 13 Billion RVR fuel supply tender

Hass Petroleum company has won a Sh 13 Billion tender to supply Rift Valley Railways (RVR) with diesel for the next three years

The deal which was announced on Wednesday will see RVR buy an estimated 130 Million liters of automotive diesel from Hass. The regional rail operator is currently upgrading its fleet of locomotives and is expected to receive 20 new units by March 2015

With the new locomotives, RVR expects its cargo haulage to increase thus raising its diesel consumption by 65%.

Hass petroleum beat five other oil marketers including Total, Vivo energy and Kenol Kobil to win the tender. A service level agreement signed between the two parties will see Hass manage the fuel facilities and ensure minimum stock levels in RVR’s operations to lower cost

Hass is present not only in Kenya, but in 8 other countries in East African and the great lakes region. They supply fuel to power plants in Uganda and the Kenya Ferry Services. They also have fuel stations across the country
