The Gor Mahia chaos in Machakos started when they scored their second goal against Sofa Paka. Then, Sofa Paka goal keeper David Okello appeared to be wasting time by holding on to the ball and disrupting play. That’s when all hell broke loose.

The chaos did not end in the Machakos stadium and the green army, as they call themselves, decided to use their ammunition to cause destruction to property. And the county government of Machakos has come out guns blazing.

Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua said on Monday that the county government of Machakos has banned the Gor Mahia football team from playing in the County’s stadium until further notice. In addition, Mutua added that his county government will invoice/ surcharge Gor Mahia team an estimated Ksh 10 Million shillings as compensation for destroyed county government and private property

Mutua also said that if the Gor Mahia team needs to play in the Machakos Stadium again, they will have to deposit  a cash bond of Ksh 10 million to cover for any damages they may do

This move by Governor Mutua elicited a quick rejoinder from Gor fans who took the battle to twitter through the hashtag #SomeOneTellMutua, with some sarcastically describing the fine as too little while others said the money will NEVER be paid

Gor lost the match to Sofa Paka (3-2) and are currently just one point above Sofapaka with two games remaining. This comes just days after Kenyan football experienced another case of hooliganism when AFC leopards fans caused chaos during the GOTV match against the same SofaPaka side. Gor Mahia were charged Ksh 500,000 and ordered to play the remaining games in an empty stadium
