Form Four girl Sues School For Expelling Her- She was expelled for wearing a miniskirt

St Mary’s Secondary School located in Lang’ata is in the spotlight for allegedly expelling a KCSE candidate for wearing a short skirt in school.

In the suit, the girl says that dhe was expelled from school on the 15th of October during prayers for the form 4 candidates who will sit for their exams this year.

The girl’s mother who was present when the girl was expelled is accusing the school of witch-hunt and said that there is a teacher in the school who holds a personal grudge against her daughter. She claims the teacher had vowed to discipline her

The candidate who is seeking to be allowed back in school says the expulsion amounts to unfair administrative action. She argues it will be cumbersome for her to commute daily from Eastleigh estate to Lang’ata adding it will not only be expensive but inconveniencing, considering the strict examination timetable.

This comes barely a week after the high court dismissed a case in which a parent sued Rusinga School for expelling her six year old son for wearing dreadlocks.

The miniskirt debate on the other hand elicited heated arguments during the reign of former education minister The late Mutula Kilonzo who openly defended the right for school girls to wear  short skirts. He said that school girls should not be dressed like nuns.

The case will be heard on Tuesday, 21st October
