Egerton University student arrested for attempted kidnap of a 9 year old school girl
Victor Mwania Musango, a student at Egerton University has been arrested for attempting to kidnap a 9 year old school girl. The girl was rescued by residents and police from the first year student who wanted to kidnap her for ransom.

The 19 year old Victor Mwania was detained at the Moi’s Bridge police station for the alleged kidnap. He and his comrade who is still at large had allegedly hire a Toyota Probox in Kitale to carry out the 6 am heinous incident. The girl was waiting for the school bus when the two approached her and lied that the bus had already left and they were going to give her a ride to school
Residents who saw the girl being picked reported to the police who luckily saw the Probox that was being driven at high speed. Its rear number plates had been hidden. Police had to shoot at the tyres of the car to stop it and Mwania together with his friend abandoned the Probox and ran in to a nearby maize plantation. Residents and police combed the plantation in search of the suspects. After a long search, Mwania was found hiding in a thicket but his friend managed to escape
The two students identified as Richard Gitamari aged 22 studying statistics and Victor Mwania who is studying engineering had allegedly hatched the plot and were to demand 5 million shillings from the girl’s family. Victor said that it was his his first kidnap job and he was to get Sh 200,000. He also said that his comrade is son to a business man who is a close friend to the father to the girl
