Why CORD leaders will not attend Uhuru’s address

Leaders from the Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (CORD) will not attend President Uhuru Kenyatta’s address that is meant to take place before he travels to the Hague. The address will be held in parliament on Monday afternoon

This was announced by senators Bonne Khakwale and Moses Wetangula after an sms was sent to them by speakers of national assembly. The text message requested the MPs to attend a special meeting which would be addressed by president Uhuru Kenyatta. Moses Wetangula said that CORD leaders will not attend the special seating since president Kenyatta wants to address ICC issues which are his personal matters

Other CORD leaders also argued that Kenyatta’s ICC case was not a national issue and should not be taken to parliament. The president will be travelling to the hague this week to answer charges related to the 2007 post election violence
